Deliberate 383 split personality?
Deliberate 383 split personality? Anyone ever build a 383 setup with a large turbo that didn't even spool until like 4500+? I'm thinking best of both worlds - great all-round grunt for the street, and if you stuck your foot in it, mega-HP up to like 7000rpm. Who cares about lag when you can spin your tires up to 50 without boost?
Anyways, I'm thinking about this Dr. Jekyl/Mr. Hyde setup and would enjoy your comments. Undrivable? Can't hook? Love the idea? Let me know...
Also ideas on turbo sizing for something like this appreciated...

I would think you could use an E-boost 2 or something and just have the boost really low at lower rpms then go way up when you get to 4500 or so. Remember that with a low comp engine you are still gonna feel a little soft without some boost. This way you could use a small turbo, so when you go to the track you could have boost the whole time and not just at high rpms. Then just set it back again for the street.

I sort of did this with my own, though the turbo isn't all that big. I had de-stroked down to 363 cid with my T-76 because everyone is saying that larger cid will hurt power with the T-76. Well. . . after suffering some really crappy 60' times, I decided to put some stroke back in it (388 now), advance the cam, and add some gear (2.73 -> 3.00). The idea is that, if I can't leave under boost (no transbrake), then I want the car to launch decent N/A. Now, the car pulled a .3 quicker 60' and .5 quicker quarter mile.

You dont have to be stroked to be able to spin the tires. I can blow my 315s off at 65 if I just mash the gas. Could on my stock trans aswell. I am going with a 408 anyway though.
