Default Please Help! Thunder blower 214-230 Cam

The Thunder Racing 214-230 Blower cam that i am interested in is on a 117 LSA with + 1 degree = (116cl)

With 601/575 lift and the exhaust lobe on a aggressive compcams XER .

I like that the cam will idel like stock and that is has a lot of lift with extra exhause duration

But will
running this cam on a built 346LS1 with 300CFM flowing ported heads and a Procharger D1-sc twin intercooled system, will i have to reve the motor high to get power out of it because of how high a LSA (117) and short a CL (116) the cam is on? My car is a 2001 M6 SS, street car.

I was thinking on having the same cam custome grinded on a 115 LSA, + 3 or 4 degrees (112cl) to bring down the power range,
What do you think?
Please help.

A narrower LSA help to scavange the cylinder between the intake and exhaust stroke. The momentum of the exhaust leaving the cylinder help draw the fresh air and fuel into the cylinder. This work for mainly N/A motors. Since you have forced induction, you don't need the scavenging effect. What determines how high you have to rev is the duration on the valve. A large duration used on a N/A motor allows more air to be sucked in and would require more RPM to make power. Again with forced induction, since the air is pushed in you don't need a big cam. With a centifugal blower, you will have high RPM power anyways, but with the cam you chose you can have good low end power and drivability.

I agree, my cam is smaller than the one your looking at(207/220 .571/.578 118.5), and at 5psi, I have all the low end power/torque that street tires can handle. I think the cam you're looking at will make better power than mine, without sacrificing any driveability.

Hope this helps,
Ed

Hi Gold Phoenix
When you say a narrower LSA , do you mean a. 117 or higher or B. a 117 or lower

I was thinking of haveing the cam built on a 115 + 3 degrees,

How does your 118 cam idel?

214/230 vs say a more common 224/230... Sure the 214/230 will work. I'm not too excited about the 117lsa unless you are looking for a nearly stock sounding idle at the expense of having to spin the combo to 7000.

Will it really require that sort of rpm's though ???

ive seen a lot of dyno graphs here, and most seem to peak around 63-6500rpm, almost regardless of cam.

Very few peak higher than this, unless they are quite radical cams.
