Default When is Intake Change Necessary?

I am wondering when is it necessary to change intakes? I have setup in my sig. I am running a LS6 intake with ported throttle body. I am currently running into plug problems. 7 and 8 are running more lean than others. What do you guys do running this setup. Is it time for me to go to carb style intake and elbo? I am running 15 psi of boost but new turbo is on the way PT 88. Should make much more power. I am very concearned with the back two cylinders.

well.. There have been many threads on this.. and the ls6 intake has been taken to the 1000rwhp level. And it's done GREAT! Great power levels, and great ETs.. Yes the carb style flows air in from the top and evens it out to the cylinders.. Little more consistent. But ls6 has been proven to be great. I'm running an ls6 intake on a 390 LS2 w/ T88.. Was planning on 1000rwhp through T56.. Puttin in a th400 on Turkey Day and shooting for 900rwhp ish w/ 95# and BS3.. All with a ls6 intake. I may switch to a carb style when I switch setups years down the road.. But why now?

I have run TR6's the back two start eroding away the ground strap. Now I am running Autolite 103. Seem to be fine but haven't looked at one. It is the equvilent to TR8.

I'm not sure what plug would be optimal.. But I was running TR6s with my n20 setup on my other ws6.. SO I believe that's where the problem lies.. In the plugs..

Perhaps you are on the edge for TR6's, see how those Autolites do.

I'm running 18-25psi with LS2/90mm intake, runs great. I run an NGK TR8 gasketed plug for my AllPro heads.

What type of fuel? I run NGK TR8's. If your going to run cheap gas and those plugs, richen it up a bit.

When is it necessary ????

I dont think there is an answer to that question. It depends why you feel it is necessary. For power, or for the 7/8 lean scenario you mention..

I know no 7 seems to be the first to go....but is it proven its an intake issue ??

I'd guess that if you tune it safe, an intake swap isnt necessary at all. If you are tuning it a bit more aggressively, then maybe you do.

No definative answer though.

I have just had alot of problems. I just want it to be safe. If all the plugs aren't burning the same then there is clearly power left on the table. Do you all think I would benifit from 90 TB? Seems like more air should be able to get in motor more freely.

90mm TB is enough for most of us.

I'd try the plug change for sure.
