STS Turbo Info
STS Turbo Info Hey everybody i was just looking into the STS Turbo system and i was just wondering about a few things. I know that STS is a big name out there for the 98 to 02 F-Bodys but i was wondering wat kinda power gains and dependability i was looking at? Ive heard from a few places that there systems are the best on the market and ive heard from other places that they dont work as well as they sound. i was wondering if i anybody has any info to help me finally decide what i wanna purchase. Basically the main question is it worth every penny or is there better areas to go for b4 i decide that forced induction is the only thing left? also IS IT DEPENDABLE?? i would apreciate any info on the kit nd any suggestions on wat to do besides this kit.

The STS kits work pretty well, it all depends on what your looking for in power gains. On a stock ls1 you should be able to obtain low/mid 400s with a non-intercooled system. However, you can up that with either meth injection, intercooler , or both. Its recommended to do both as you can never have cool enough IAT's , it will gain you power and fight off detonation. With a intercooled/meth system you can ususaly expect around 500rwhp through a m6. However, you can go higher, but its still on a stock motor and we usualy keep the stock motor around 500 for reliability.
hey thanks for the info but i do have one other question is the sts kit good for longer trips without an intercooled system or does it tend to overheat nd start detination if it is driven for a good periord of time.....and if it does overheat quickly do u have any suggestions on an intercooler system to purchase along with the kit?? thanks again for the feedback
jake about summed it up and an intercooler is not gonna change anything with the car overheating or not........just cools the intake charge. I have driven mine 850 miles without stoping for anything other then gas so no overheating issues here.
