Autos are for daily drivers OR drag-only cars. Manuals are much more fun on the street or a road course where you may not like the auto's shift timing in the middle of a curve. High HP autos can be downright scary on the street where you aren't always driving in a straight line. I prefer to intentionally downshift as opposed to just hitting the gas and accidentally doing highway speed burnouts. I think Zombie is still pissed about all those junk clutches that welded to his flywheel.

My 4l80 is way better than my Built m6 was. Footing the clutch bill sucked. It was fun but the hell with all the clutches I went thru. 6500 rpm clutch dumps killed them fast! LOL

Agree with Jim . There is nothing like manually banging gears!!

dig racing: TH400
roll racing: TH400

There is nothing like maintaining 100% boost between shifts like an auto does. I have a turbo M6 and will be installing my TH400 in a week or two.

One of my buddies (member tondss/Mr_president) has a turbo TH400 and he grabs a solid car length or two every time I shift. That split second of spool time after an M6 shift can lose the race.

Also, whoever is complaining about shift points and whatnot in an auto needs to research a Reverse manual valve body.

And for the 10th time, you will get sick of replacing clutches.

Damn right I am! Wasted a a lot of money. They forced me to convert to the dark side. Just to warn everyone, stay away from spec, they make **** clutches.

My car really is a lot better with the TH400 though, drives much nicer and is much faster (stop or roll). I didn't think i'd like the auto, now I'm in love with it, best mod to a turbo car ever. Driving a RMVB th400 on the street is just awesome. Everyone who rides with me thinks the way it shifts is cool.

Who says you have to let off the gas to shift?

I have driven one auto car with a decent anount of power and I have to say they are pretty fun(and I didn't even get to open it up), but on the other side there is nothing like banging grears if you now how to do it right.

To me it seems if you have to ask then you should just keep the auto.

Not sure about a gasser, but on a diesel, stick shifts are real hard on turbos. You lose boost even if you speed shift and never let off of the throttle. But I guess gasser guys can run a blow of valve, right?

I rowed the boat for over 30 years, so I know how to shift. But an auto is so much easier and lots of fun, I just have to correct for going sideways. It's all personal preference, and whether you want to go faster (auto) or play around (manual).

I have both. LT1 is 6 speed. LS1 is auto. I like both .But the auto wins at the track.

As long as I have 2 legs and feet, my car will always be manual !!!!!

Apart from 1 initial hiccup, Ive never had any clutch or gearbox issues. Its worked perfectly pretty much from day one, although I will be upgrading the box soon, just for strength.

My daily driver Volvo diesel estate is an auto, its great too...... Performance cars should never be automatic though, unless you do have hand-leg co-ordination problems
