Yeah, that's actually the definition of twin charging, a blower and a turbo, not two blowers. There's a Mini Cooper S dubbed the Twini that has the factory blower fed by a turbo. It's a good way to compound the boost but you can easily compound all the issues of FI too.

I say you keep your blower and put a big turbo on it too.

There was an older GTO at the Woodward Dream Cruise this year. Had a 8:71 on top of a 6:71 twin blowers. Those mounted on an intercooler and then finally the intake. It was tall (taller than the roof of the car!). But it ran and make over 1k hp.

But if you are sold on the centrifigul charger, I don't see why not. Just need some creative piping under that rear bonnet. I am sure Jeff could hook you up. Send your car over before the power tour to get it set up. I would HAVE to make sure I attend next year if you both have your cars running in it! Looks great so far Grant!!

OMG that is insane, just look at that, its taller than the lady standing next to it. I wonder how much HP that thing is pushing.

It belonged to the guy sitting in the chair on the RH side of the pic. He told us over 1200hp or so. It ran and drove, he cruised Woodward with it. It was neat to see, but talk about a blind spot!!!

That twin blower setup is rediculous. I haven't ever seen anything like that before. I guess that's why he decided to do it.

twin charging is nothing new ...but... i think using a set of turbos that kick in about half way through the maggies power curve would give you some nice overall power. overkill but yea... too fast is just fast enough.

ps- ive seen that car and met the owner...pretty badass.

I just found this while randomly searching on the internet for information about eaton superchargers. It's a twincharged Saturn Ion with an eaton m62 and a garrett turbo.

That subaru is pretty rediculous too. To me though that just seems like it's almost overkill. I know there's not really a thing as too much hp, but there's easier ways to make as much power as that thing made.

nice link! that car has been kicking around for a while. i think the guy initially want to run dual GT35r's!!!

but there are esier ways to make power, like a 3.0ltr flat 6 with two turbos that was fitted in a hill climb car (like pikes peak cars) in Oz!! think that was making 850bhp.

still very well done and looks cool!

thanks Chris.

I think that with modern parts availability, most twincharging ideas violate the KISS theory of engineering, and would be barely better than a properly specced blower or turbo setup.

Just more stuff to go wrong, and getting the necessary electronic engine control stuff nailed down would be expensive and dicey. IMHO.

i'm sure you could keep it simple... some of those stacked roots engines are kind of extreme, but i'm talking about a centrifugal type supercharger, and some turbo, doesn't have to be huge.

But i have to agree with DeltaT as well. Still, it'd be unique, and if tuned right and not "overboosted", it'd be quick, too. All i'm sayin!

People aren't spending that kind of money, R & D, and headaches to go fast... That's more simple. They're doing it to be unique, and that they are. These are badass set-ups... I'd love to see more.

the MINI guys seem to like it....alot! lol

there are several kits out for the MINI which matian the stock SC and use a turbo. you dont need bypass valves (only a blow of valve to stop the turbo stalling).

thanks CHris.
