Default I have the chance..

Hey guys. I have the chance right now to either build a 346 ls1 and turbo it or build a nice 408 motor.

My goals are to have a car that can long distance cruise (power tour) but not a daily driver by any means. (i have 3500 miles on it in 2 years).
Run mid to low 10's on the CORRECT suspension setup. Have a th400 with a brake and 4000 stall+ or the current viper built 6 speed and textralia.

I would really like to have a turbo setup but I have a MAX of 10 grand to start from scratch. Could you build a 346 to withstand a nice amount of boost (say 12 pounds) and build a turbo setup (not the sts rear mount though. I have true duals and I dont want to lose that) for that much money?

I just dont know what to do. Either boost the 346 or n/a the 408. Best scenerio is boost the 408 but funds dont allow it and probably wont ever allow it.

The time is now. The iron is hot to strike.

thanks.

with your budget i would do the 408 n/a, then a 150shot and call it a day.the 408 with a turbo ads up really fast.

Get either a 402/408 built with the best internals you can, get some nice flowing heads (TFS/AFR/ETP), 1 7/8th heades to mate to your true duals, and a fast 90/90 combo. That way if you choose to go FI in the future you are all set engine wise. You will be hard pressed to build a very reliable FI 346/347 with 10K and you might be kicking yourself down the road for not going bigger CI from the beginning.

thanks guys.

I have the fast 90 90 now. But will be selling that and the tea stage 3 heads and ms4 cam to go with the l76 intake and l92 heads.

I guess staying with the 408 will be the answer then.

Appreciate the advice.

I have the same thought.. I would be interested in seeing the difference.

Probably will go with the 408. lol
