This is where goals come in.

In my particular application, more stroke really helped. My old motor was 363 cid with a T76. My best time was 10.40 at 143 mph on a 1.9x 60' time at 18-20 psi boost. I had a terrible 60' because of turbo lag since I can't build boost on the line, even with a 2-step.

I re-arranged my goals a bit because I wanted to get in the 9's without a trans-brake. I stroked it to 388 cid, advanced the cam 4 deg, and stepped up from a 2.73 to a 3.00 gear, all in hopes of getting a better 60' time off boost. I lowered the boost to 16-18 psi for reliability reasons. I also tightened the converter and installed skinnies up front in hopes of getting my mph up a tad (or offset the losses from the advanced cam, lower boost, and supposedly cid increase). Well. . . my plan worked. First pass off the trailer was a 9.92 at 146 mph.

My combo is laggy but it will build boost on the 2step Mike.

I can only get about 2000 rpm against the foot-brake and it will only make about 1 psi boost there on the 2-step. My best time ever was actually without the 2-step leaving at 4-5" vacuum.

A de-stroker I think would be better than a stroker in boost applications, less rotating mass and I dont think you really need a stroker for torque in a boost app either. Max bore would be best and minimum stroke.
Just my opinion.
Ditto for me!
