m6 or th400 for D1SC???

From what you've said so far, I think the th400 sounds best for you. 20 miles a day isn't too bad and if your not on the highway roll racing all the time, the th400 will get you alot more wins too. As soon as my tranny goes out I'm going with a th400 but it was an easy choice for me because it's not my DD.

I think that it's going to be the th400 with a medium stall for all stated purposes... I'm going home to Oklahoma in April and they're having the hot rod nationals... Lots and lots of crusing (good) but lots of long range driving (bad)... It's so worth it though...
I guess I can get used to cruising around in equivalent to my current 4th gear since both are a 1:1 ratio... Ehhh =)

For a true daily driver that you drive all over the place its really your preference not ours.
I want to build a weekend warrior that gets driven on the street with a turbo 400 or glide.
and with a supercharger setup, KP's converter sounds like the best compromise, something that is still somewhat tight yet flashes up when you need it.
my yank is like that now.

I would drive my car 20 miles to work each day if I had to, I have driven a lot worse a lot farther.
If 1/4 mile times are your goal there is only one choice really, I know there are die hards out there that run well with the M6s but they generaly have a surplus of power and make up for some of the bad 60 foot. While some guys look at the mph and so-so ET on a manual car and say 'wow that car makes a ton of power. ' I say, 'wow, that car must have a shitty 60 foot.' The guys that are running very good 60 foots with M6s tend to be all out lightweight race cars with pro shifted transmissions with no 5th and 6th anyhow.
If you choose the auto then dont compromise on a converter. As far as ETs go its one of the most important things in your combination. So many people just toss wahtever cheap converter in there and get very disappointed. One of the reasons mine drives arouns so well is its just a stock engine with a small cam and headers and the converter is made for 800hp. So unless its floored and in boost its really a somewhat tight converter.

RMVB T400 does not feel like a DD setup, it's more of a weekend troublemaker.
I'd go automatic valve body 4L80E it will feel a lot more like stock and you can manually shift it to wind out the shift points.

i've got 4.10s in my car with a th350 right now but because i have stock heads and a 408 and a 3.4 pulley my car is going to make some serious bottom end... im going to run 3.42 or 3.55.... right now the 4.10 gears with a loud *** car is no fun.... im actually in the middle of adding a few more mufflers to the car to make it more streetable.... i want to be able to pull in off the highway with the car and drive directly to the lanes and pull a 6.50 in the 8th.... when she does that ill be pretty stoked...
