I have both my Vettes with American Hobbyist insurance. Can't be you daily, can't drive it to work and must be garaged. Thats it, no milage limits. 100K/300K coverage, stated value if total loss $15K on the 91' and $50K on the 2004. I pay $843.50 for the year on total for both cars $500 deductable.. $244.50 for the 91' and $597 for the 2004 for a whole year

I went through just this situation. A FEMA park was moving in next door, so I wanted to make sure my turbo Z28 was covered in case of theft. I have about $25k in it and would probably only get $5k if it were stolen. I called my carrier (State Farm !@#$#@^ bastards) and told them my situation. They said they would be happy to cover it at (of course) a slightly increased premium, but they wanted to take some pictures of the car first. I gladly brought it to them and, after they took pictures, dropped insurance on it totally. I got so pissed that I found a new insurance carrier for my truck and house (Hanover), bike and car (Progressive). Progressive actually did agree to do an agreed upon value on my car and that's how I have it set up now.
The bonus is that I got my agreed upon value and save about $500/year by switching my insurance over. I guess I should thank State Farm for dropping the Z28.

I will tell you this don't go to Progressive. I went to them a few years ago because they were cheaper. Well they don't tell you this but once you go to Progressive every other insurance company thinks your high risk and will not take you unless you pay high premium for while. Just my experince. I use ANPAC it is specialty insurance company but I have a 1968 Chevy C10 that is appraised for 25000 and I plan on doing this same thing of Insuraning for more on my Camaro just haven't done it yet. I will tell you all one thing this is the best insurance company I have ever used. Coverage on my old truck is 300 dollors a year. Hell that's cheaper than other peoples liability.
Progressive can kiss my ***.... I totalled my 2000 WS6 about a year ago. I had over 40,000 in that car and they gave me 12,000 for it. They tried for 3 months to get out of paying me trying to prove I was street racing it when I wrecked. I had them for over 10 years and after that one and ONLY accident and claim they have dropped me because I have another car that "might or might not be used for racing" So now I have Allstate, I save 60.00 a month on full coverage on 3 vehicles.

Verdad Gallardo I agree but I wasn't even trying to hide the fact that I raced the car occasionally at the track. I told them that I did in fact race it SOMETIMES at the track. So they automatically think I was street racing it. They are retarded.
I registered mine as a pleasure car (which it is). Mods have not been mentioned because they sent me a warning letter when I purchased it that they don't normally insure cars with low weight and high horsepower. I use Erie, which I do not recommend.

i went on to the american hobbiest website and you need to have a driving record for at least 10 years...got a while to live before that, but seems like the best way to go, put in my info for a 2002 z28 worth 50k, 100/500/50 coverage w/ medical coverage and 500 dollar deductable and got quoted for $644/year. im going to get this when i turn 26 hahaha

This thread has got me wondering now how things are gna turn out once i get my car back on the road. Before I took my car of the road for the mods and what not my insurance through all state quoted me at 1150 per year including the camaro and my 01 Ram pickup. the catch tho is my camaro was a V6 car so hopefully they never ask why the engine under the hood looks like a BBC lol
