Turbo Guys Anyone with Ball-Bearing turbos specifically, which weight of oil are you running? Before anyone says "do a search" the lovely search function is broken, and this Q is specific enough that it needs to be asked. ball-bearing turbo what oil weight? thank you 
Unless you have a separate oil system just for the turbo I would be more concerned about your engine IMO. If it's a stock bottom end use the appropriate weight oil for extreme duty high heat, if it's a custom built motor use what the builder recommends for the assembled bearing clearances and pump volume. With a ball bearing cartridge, the turbo will spool fine either way. I wouldn’t think you would see much difference in spool time once everything was warmed up.
As the gent above stated I would use whatever weight is specified for the motor but make sure to use a QUALITY synthetic such as Royal Purple or the like. I have used most types of the turbo cars I have owned and for the ones that I still own I use only Royal Purple as I have found it to be of great quality. I can drain the others after "X" amount of miles and none of them look as good coming back out as the Royal Purple has. I know this may seem like nut swinging but when a product works as it is advertised what can ya do but use it and pass along the info. Hope this helps.
