Standard BS3 comes with datalogging just to clarify, the DAI option is being able to log a pass without a laptop in the car and upload it after the run. Without DAI you need a laptop in the car during a run to log it.

DAI = ?
So DAI is what's costing you $200, correct?

It will hold the log as long as you want unless you disconnect the battery, I usually log every pass but only upload to the laptop good or bad runs when I want to see something. Be nice to hold 40 passes like the old EFIlive wart but not really necessary.

I am not at work today for exact pricing, but it seems to be around 500 more for full trans control. KP gave an excelent explanation of the DAI option, but the one thing that I would like to add is the resolution of the data is much better then using a laptop. No matter how good the laptop is, the connection to the ecu will only flow info so fast. It takes up to 1 minute to download 15 seconds worth of info, because of the data transfer speed.

I never used the laptop to log except for just some initail startup/idle stuff Kurt so I didnt realize that.
But the DAI resolution is very nice, rpm increments per frame on a log are every 20-25rpm in first gear. Some may think its not a big deal but that first 60' is what makes and breaks your ET and its nice to have accurate data whats going on there.

Less if you add more channels, but I log more than enough....
Logging is worth every pennny. Mine even logs wheelspeeds, which is interesting watching drive slip from one side to other at times during a run.
I'll be upgrading to a better version of my ecu soon though. My biggest complaint though, is the damn thing wont run low z injectors

How do you set up the DAI to record the run? I thought I recalled it needing to be wired to a switch but I never set mine up. I've always used the laptop to log the car. thanks.
