Default Boost controller for supercharger

Jeff from CAM has come up with, what I think, a very cool idea.

I am probably at the max safe limit for a stock LS6 (573/486). His thought is to pully down, but then put on a boost controller. This will bring more boost on early, but then the boost controller would keep it at the same level I am at now.

Sounds like a great approach. Has anyone done this?

Never mind. I did a search on restrictor plate and found tons to read.

Interesting way to get a turbo effect. Remember, belt slippage increases with a smaller pulley.

You still don't get a "turbo effect" if you mean spool, since the boost curve is still dependent on engine rpm. You just get a slight rise in the slope of the boost line.
I agree about the belt slip - if you aren't careful you could end up with a net loss.

If you mean to be venting boost off on the top end, forget it. The engine is still working to produce that boost, and venting it will throw the blower out of its efficiency, costing you power. Roots style or turbo.

ithas been talked about on ehre quiet a bit. and every now and again it comes back up so dont feel too bad!

i think its a great idea to restrict the supercharger somehow. might be worth concidering going for a bigger head unit then you still get to run a big pully and get the boost you want!

by the way, the restrictor plate idea has been tried and well tested. it works!

thanks Chris.

PS, AMERICAN HP on here (he has a KB 402 vette making over 800rwhp and 800rwlbs ft!) was looking into a way of limiting his supercharger to help his right foot get the car off the line!
