Another DIY turbo build
IDK the casting #'s for the manifolds, they are 6.0 chev P/U w/o the egr hole.
I think I will keep the open down pipe. I am getting used to the sound. It does sound kind of "ratty" but the turbo whistle is super loud from 2500 rpm's up. I was very pleasantly surprised at the turbo whistle so I forget all about the exhaust.
The BOV is really loud as loud as any ricermobile I have heard. I can jab the throttle from a slow roll & let off quickly at around 2-3 #'s of boost and she will give a head turning swish.
I want to do a vid but I don't know how to get it posted up. I tried last year with my N20 set up but the file was huge.
I have a dual gate manual boost controller. I have the 2nd gate set at 15 #'s & want to give it a try but have a question: What octane should it be at? I have 10 gals of 110 rocketbrand racing fuel setting here. I was thinking that I could go half 91 octane, would that be sufficient?
Also an update, I took it to a "street race" last sat. We meet at an airport & run them legally for an 1/8 mile. There are no timers but there is a radar at the end of the track. It ran consistantly at 96 - 99 MPH. This was at a pretty high elevation on asphalt, no chemicals, no concrete. 9# boost, 91 octane, & 13 degrees timing.
