Default Wrapping INTAKE side of sts?

I am considering on purchasing an sts kit later in the future and have been reading a couple of threads about them. One that I read not too long ago was about wrapping the exhaust.

Well, this made me think about the intake system. Because the intake tube is so long it loses temperature, therefore losing boost. If you were to wrap the intake I would think that this would keep boost level and intake speeds higher, therefore faster throttle responses. Yes the temperature would be higher but once it passes through the intercooler drop down. (This could only be done to systems with FMIC of course)

This makes sense in my head, but if I am completely retarded just tell me.

The cold side is much different than the hot side. Don't do it...

You want the intake air as cold as possible. That "pressure drop" is the air becoming more dense because it's colder. You want that.

Cold air- more dense, more oxygenated, more power.

Thats the point of an I/C is to cool the charge. If the cold side is hot, then the I/C is going to not have as much of an effect on charge cooling.

I agree. It is great that you are thinking about these types of things, but the intake pipe actually helps cool the incoming air, which is greatly desired in any FI application. More cooling is better.

I know you want the air to be as cold as possible, but once it passes through the intercooler it will be cold and dense. My thought in the wrap is that it will keep boost levels higher to the intercooler, where it will be condensed anyway.

I would think that this would also increase throttle response aswell.

But it seems that you people know a lot more than I so Ill just stop talking now
