Would a D-1sc on the same car net better hp/tq numbers, or would it be pretty much the same?
Curious because i'm looking at the d-1sc kit from epp. It would be on my stock setup until I get some more $ to do exhaust/ internal mods.

The P-1SC and the D-1SC would both virtually produce the same amount of horsepower at 8 psi. The P-1SC comes standard with 3.5" thick intercoolers, where the D-1SC comes with thicker 4.5" thick intercoolers. At 8 psi, the thicker intercoolers would keep the inlet air temperatures down slightly from the smaller 3.5" intercoolers, which may allow the D-1SC to produce a slightly higher amount of horsepower.
From an article that was in a GM Hi Tech magazine. Bob
"Ryan compiled the raw data into these convenient graphs and as you can see there was approximately .5 psi less of boost drop off from the larger intercoolers. In addition the larger intercoolers were 10 percent more effective in cooling the intake air temperature, especially in the upper rpm range.... "
"...At 6500 rpm intake air temperatures were only 62 degrees with the 4.5-inch intercoolers, meanwhile, with the smaller units, intake air was at 71 degrees. As you can see from the graph, as rpm and boost increased so did the disparity between the two intercoolers, proving the potential with higher boost levels."
However, if you are buying it new, you BETTER get the D-1SC from the start! Its only like $200 last time I checked. But if you get the P-1SC now and then change your mind later, it will cost you $1200+ to send in your P to convert it to a D. Plus you got downtime too.
I wish I had a D-1SC. I am spinning the P-1SC almost to the max impeller speed right now. Although it is making good power, if I were spinning a D-1SC at the same speed, it would make more power than my P-1SC.
Do yourself a favor and get the D-1SC from the start!
BTW- my bone stock engine with stock exhaust manifolds made 454 RWHP at 6psi. With headers, it went to 489 rwhp.
You can see my new setup in my sig making 632rwhp
And I still have the 3.5" twin intercoolers...
