Air Filter Restriction vs Boost On FI
Do you have the part numbers for the bigger filter and the small ones to fit on the bypass valve?
4:06am Bob? you're nutz

Interesting results!
Green Line - 2 Window Screens on a 45 to one another. This gave us the lowest boost and the least power.
Middle Red - Stock ATI Little filter for an 04 GTO (Very limited room)
Purple Line - One Window Screen. Little bit more boost then the stock filter, with minimal gains for the safety given up.
Top Red Line - No filter at all...The most boost and most power.

This is a picture of the stock air filter and the two screens. We have a MUCH larger air filter we will be installing some time next week and we will report the results.
If anyone would like to request something to test out, or have any suggestions, please ask!
I should note, the car is an 04 GTO with a mild cam, P1SC, LTs, Full Exhaust and other supporting mods. The GTOs have a super small area to put the filter and it may be the reason we are seeing such a larg gain. I think the FBodies and Vettes have a much larger filter.
Bob, can you confirm that?
They are about 8-10" diameter, but only 4" tall or so, so pretty compact. Some rant and rave about them, some say they are crap....
Then again, you get that about most things.
Im using a K&N RU-3050. Its as big as I have room for. Id say its performing ok though. 6" inlet, circa 8" diameter tapered cone about 8" tall.
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
-Small (current) filter/ hat assembly for a baseline
-hat only with no filter
-hat with bigger filter, I'm thinking maybe a truck filter from a 95ish chevy (I've heard one of those can be stuffed in the cavity in front of the front wheel)
-no hat or filter
If you could try that 70Stang as well that would be great to have 2 independant tests...
Good thing i got a screen for the track

Typical salesperson response. No help at all...
Typical salesperson response. No help at all...I spoke with Thomas, a Tech a K&N. He was a huge help in recommending a filter for my application. He asked for inlet size, cid, horsepower, and psi. From this he was able to provide a list of choices needed to support my current horsepower and some filters that will flow beyond my current needs giving me some headroom. Naturally size and shape are limiting factors to your choices.

She had or has no clue what it takes to make 1000 hp,
if i was on the other end of that call and a guy asked me a bout a 1000 hp I might have got got semi ridgid.
