Default CI's, CR's and boost affect timing?

im wanting to understand what will allow me to run more timing with a blown 408 with out KR...

many guys with blown 347CI @ 9.0:1 - 9.5:1 CR motors run 18 degrees of timing at about 13-14 psi and make about 650rwhp

i have about 8.1:1 CR and have a 408 .... would this allow me to run more timing than the other guys at the same cfm/boost?

i think i see why my motor is dying so early... it has a peak timing of 15* right about 5800rpms and then its 15 across the board... i figure i should pick it up atleast 2 degrees at first... and then mabey add 1 degree here and there and be very cautious...

Thanks,

Tyler

I dont know much about tuning except for what I've heard, so dont take it to heart, lol.

All I know is they are all affected in conjunction with each other, and all have a limit thats dependant on the others...

For example, my car was running 8.5 CR, ran a conservative 13 degrees of timing with 13.5 lbs of boost. There was a little room for increasing the timing however Id rather have that margin of safety...

So if I increased boost with the same CR, I would assume I would have to lower timing to play it safe. If I increased Timing, you cant be as aggressive with the boost, and so on and so forth.

However things can be very touchy when talking about how the power is made...

Ive heard running more timing will help with lower end tq, and then you would need to compensate in higher octane gas or lower boost.

So I cant give you a definate answer, this is just what I have seen (although it may not all be accurate as Im a nooby compared to others on here).
