Default STS on a 6-speed?

Asked my local performance/turbo shop about the STS turbo kit for my TA. They said they just installed one on a Auto and it was great, lots of power but they were concerned about the turbo lag for a 6-speed. They were suggesting that when the turbo boost kicks in it will be time to shift. Does anyone have an STS kit on their 6-speed? Or should i be looking into superchargers?

i sure do, get the wrapp from the end of the headers to the turbo and you will solve a huge problem in lag. its crazy fun

I would think lag would be more noticeable with an auto. But thats just me.

i havent ridden in an auto STS car, but i did get a chance to ride in a truck and the sheer speed at which he got boost was rediculous. i love my 6 speed with the turbo. wouldnt trade it for anything. now if i was more a track car then i would've gone auto

you are in a gear for longer in an automatic. the 6 speed ratios are closer, and if i'm not mistaken, i believe they mean that you will be at the top of a gear by the time boost hits, which would be more likely on a 6speed than an auto, only because of the closer ratios, maybe if it were a 6speed auto it would have the same problems as a stick...

I also have the sts kit on my 6 speed camaro. Also dont go crazy with a big gear. I had 4:10 gears with my sts and it would not allow the turbo to build up boost. I'm now running a 350 gear which also made a huge difference.

yepp stock 3.42s are good. No reason to change really unless you go to 2.73 or something which helps on highway.

i had 373s in my 6sp it was ok it would kick in around 3300ish. i didnt like it cause the low speed throttle responce and DD was annoying.

it was fun for sure kinda sucked at the track launching was hit or miss spinn or bog and abad bog at that till the turbo would spool. it can be done if you just DD it your fine hit the track and an AUTO is the way to go.

Yes, you are correct....however, through shifts, the auto will hold boost better, unless you are a super fast power shifter with great speed.

The Manual is much more fun IMO, but as some have suggested there are tweaks that will help hold/build boost better.
