thanks very much everybody!
i really like running the car like this, considering changing out the rear to 3.23's etc. so i can keep going on them. anyone opposed to me doing that?

with the factory sized tires it is much easier to haul down on brakes hard than with skinnies and fats of different diameters on the stock abs system. that will bothers me if i switched to them and ran at richmond again

dont think this car has anything for lsx shootout contenders but its a nice compliment! if i was going there i would be driving the car there and hopefully driving home

ryan, you got a pic of those tires mounted up? was also considering calling iforged and seeing if they could get me a pair like i have but in 15's and just change the back wheels out only.

engineermike, i have not dynoed this car at all yet. i dont recall the numbers exactly but the formula w/ the 6 speed was maybe 8-850rw around here kinda guessing.. it made 995rw at 23#, now with the 4l80e is probably less

mike01ws6. i dont have a cut out on the car to open (yet). It would be interesting to do another backpressure reading though. I have a 3.5" that i will eventually get on the car. it's 3.5" from the turbo to the muffler which is twin 3" out

2000transam, i know! me too! if i could i wouldnt' have switched

west side, there is a vid of a 10.05 pass, but no more. i would like to make a drive around vid of the car cuz i feel its hard to really capture how 'street' the car is over the internet... at least i get that perception sometimes

t/a kid, still has a yank sc3000 but it takes about 5 seconds to make 6psi boost on the trans brake, looking at the 3400 to try next, i dont want to compromise street driving.

last ls1, the car is heavy cuz its got lots of stuff on it thats just how it is.. im not chopping up my nice car or compromising my own safety for E.T. the car was 3800 even and since ive added the 4l80 over the t-56, a full size battery, t/a spoiler and ground effects. i would like to get a more current official measurement but there is no way it is under 3900 and will not get lighter with a full cage.

i bought the components for a 10 point but am just happy watching it be in the corner apposed to in my way all over the car... and its running so good i dont want to park it right now.

smokinhawk, i was out of third gear (1:1 in automatic) not letting it go to overdrive. was 70xx rpm on 25.7" tires, 3.42 rear gear

ATV, am considering locking the converter, but have not done it yet.. its so tight anyways its only slipping 3% per BS3. i am not regretting the switch at this point.. and i can still flip everything back in an afternoon if it really gets to me... still have the hydraulics and pedal assembly in the car

hey george, thanks again for your help along with bmr, snow, bs3, the ls1tech / rpm members for getting me back on some fast *** feet!

Locking the converter around say the 1,000' mark might let you go thru the traps without hitting the limiter.

Tight converters are great for driving around.

absolutely awesome man!! If you wanna drop gears tho, you're gonna have to go to a 3:08... i've searched and searched and searched, and as far as i can tell, they don tmake a 3:23 gear for a chevy 12bolt... that's teh gear ratio i wanted as well!

Sweet Ride!

just up the limiter to 7200 and lock the verter.
or try a taller tire.

and you need to get a parachute on it!

haha, i just finished moving it from 6800! if i set to 72, hook a bit better and bump the boost up ill be out then too... and i have a feeling a looser stall in the works will shorten it further.

i gotta go taller tire or lower gear for certain to keep going. peak power is way back at 6000

Swapping tires is easier then swapping gears, just pull the ABS fuses and the ABS wont kick in at 130mph with different sized tires.

I dont know if I'd lock the converter with that much power, plus it wont do much good if the converter is efficient anyways.

So MM, why did you decide to go auto this time instead of sticking with 6 sp? I thought you were so adament about staying manual? I do understand it is more consistant and you can hook much better from a dig, just thought you like rowing through the gears more lol.

Good job man, That is really moving. I agree with switching gears, but tires are easier to swap. Expecially if you do not like the gears, you can't really just go out to the garage and loosen 10 bolts and be done like you can with a set of tires.

gears are cheaper and will give me better mileage

3.08 is a long way from 3.42 i dunno bout that.

i like shifting, love shifting, BUT i hate losing more!
