i drove mine in the rain, everything is fine. i didn't go looking for/digging in puddles though. ever heard of a bypass valve? also, get STS with the filter cover, i'm ordering mine if i can get in touch with STS...but thats another story.

i have a STS kit on my 98 Z28...i live in the desert but we still get rain and that shield works...under normal wet road driving conditions ull be fine just dont put the thing under water and submerge it...and when i bought mine the guy i purchased it from (Z-rated Performance) and the the guys at STS them selves highly recomended not using that pre filter sock if u want to have the realy performance out of it...i made only 401rwhp and 401 lb/ft of torque on the standard 5psi of boost..yet i am a ALL stock internal LS1 with 77k on it...u should be happy with it....good luck

rain is not a problem with the STS unless you make it one...

drive it with the sock on in the rain, and combined, the sock and shield will eliminate all the water problems. i have also driven in the rain several times, and i was scared as **** on the freeway of sucking up water, but i still have yet to suck any up!

I have an jeep off road sock for mine it really works since I dont run the filter with the tube, I have it directly on the turbo. But what sucks about the sock its a big dam restriction but it keeps things dry.

My comment is made about going fast in the rain. If you are really worried about making boost in the rain in a f-body....then I dunno what you are besides retarded.

Oh FWIW, i've completely submerged my filter when I got caught in a flood with no protector and I didn't hydrolock my motor... you know why? Because I didn't touch the gas peddle.

Took two days for all the water to get out of the pipes though.

3 yrs. DD my 01' SS with the old style STS kit and I've only had maybe 3 problems with water. When the water proofing on the sock wears out I'll get a little water in the system and it will hit the MAF and the car will buck and sputter. I'll then rewater proof the sock and clean the MAF and it all good.
