I ****** hate this **** gas we have. I bet if I were running some sunoco 94 from the east coast It would have survived a bit better.

Yup, I in fact just emailed him asking for the spec sheet of the build up so I know what parts we need to replace...

Hopefully hes easy to get ahold of cause I know it used to be impossible lol.

When you get your ride up and running again I recommend you add Torco to the 91 pump gas we use. I am a VERY FIRM believer in its ability to effectively raise the Octane.

or at least back off of the anti-methanol stance... that's what keeps mine together at 16psi on pump gas. It's worth it for the low IATs too; it makes HP. Buy yourself a kit while it's down, just pennies in the bucket

Sorry it happened, I know how much it sucks. NicD knows his schizz just listen to his advice. Better luck on the new setup.

You just found out what happens when you have all the power I'm really surprised it lasted that long. Was a very strong motor.

Just turn it back to 12lbs if you plan on keeping the 91 octain all the time. Also don't hammer it if the coolant temp is high.Should last alot longer next time

Alan if you live that close to Chandler I would just go that station on Chandler and 44th and throw in a few gallons of 101 to mix with regular pump gas. I know in the winter my car runs awesome, but as soon as summer time hits the car will start to detonate up top and I have to pull timming and chage the tune slightly. This year since I hardly drive it I just throw in a few gallons of 101 to mix with the pump gas and it runs the really well.

Ya, I live like 3 miles from Saad's gas station, lol. During last summer about 80% of the time I drove it it had at least a little 101 mixed in cause I knew it would detonate during the summer...

This time I will try to run it all the time, winter and summer.

That gas station is a good place to find races though, lol. no normal person would get 101 in their every day beater.

Slowhawk, I honestly think it would have lasted much longer if I didnt pull the exhuast cause it was still running very strong (minus the fuel pump and clutch issues I had in the past). But ya i'll have it tuned down to 10/12 psi and still run some race fuel for safe measure.

Hopefully Allan gets my PM soon, I need to know what parts we need to use again, lol.

once you pull the exhaust and it becomes more efficient, it makes more hp per psi. Torco works but alky is effective as well. I have mine down enuff on the street with a restrictive air filter and closed exhaust that it will run 10-11psi on 93 octane. Uncap the air filter and exhaust and it will detonate once the IATs come up along with the coolant temp. I have finally learned that 700 and 1000hp both feel the same on the street when you are spinning so i just keep the hp down on the street and run it with racegas at the track.

Ya, i dont think we will use Meth or alky... just tune it super conservative and run some 101 in there just to be safe.

The next step below the 900rwhp I had was 425rwhp heads/cam so its quite a difference... especially when the boost kicks in

I wish I was that close. I have to drive from Mesa because I don't know of any place that sells it from a pump. I know that Myne's performance is just a block from my house but they aren't open at midnight if I need it.

When I went I thought the same thing, but the only person in that place was an old lady in a Maxima. At 6 bucks a gallon I didn't feel the need to show her what was up. LOL.

Plus ill have more room in between the turbo and radiator to keep everything cool...
Ill be real honest here...That my friend looks quite a lot like a "Too hot" of a plug problem more so then just straight detonation...The two however do go hand in hand. Id say you most likely melted the tip off a plug. With all the Ls1tech'ers here pushing Tr6's even in high HP applications, can I go out on a limb and assume thats what was in the motor to make the destruction we see here?
