i got my used STS kit off ebay and with a slipping clutch and a cam, it made 503/512 with 5.5-6psi. but it wasnt a 3k kit. $3120 shipped. then came all the supporting mods, and over 6k here i go.

DONT FORGET ABOUT THE TUNE!!!!!

You could do it BUT your going to have to deal with Ebay knockoff parts that are sometimes just junk. If you can weed through a get a good blowoff, MP70, and wastegate it is possible. You wont be able to have many nice things though. (eboost etc). You will need to make all you own mild steel piping.

No it is not possible.
As was mentioned before, 6K at a minimum and that is wishful thinking.
The most inexpensive kit out there is the STS kit and that is a good bit more that 3K plus you don't want a rear mount.

If you really want to go turbo, put the money in a seperate savings account and slowly add to that account until you reach about 8K. You can then buy yourself a nice kit that can be tuned down to 400-450rwhp and a small fuel system (pump and injectors) to support it as well as some valve springs and tuning. Your driveline should survive at those power levels.

I dont understand where all this high numbers are coming from....

Yes my kit is not done, but i have a brand new turbo, 250miles on green top injectors, new 255 pump, A2A FMIC, HKS Wastegate, 6.0 headers, and have only come out to 1300....

i have yet to get my pipes made, but i have a local shop that qouted me 400 for all my piping, and 400 for a tune....

that would put me right over 2k.....(of coarse thats just the tubro, thats not including clutch, valve springs, oil pump, and soon rear end..)

Been seeing some kits on ebay that are knockoffs of some kits, but are made in china I think, but price is $2099. I heard some people bought them and there were some that needed to do a few welds on the pieces for strength and you have to buy the supporting parts to connect the intercooler and the oil lines, but they claim even though they are cheap knockoffs they hold up and do the job. I have no clue about Turbos, so I am just going by what others that bought the kit said. But, even if the kit worked well, I would need a 9 inch and upgrademy fuel system etc... so price still comes out to $4,500+ with tune and that doesn't include install

I think you get the general theme of the thread so far - to do FI right, you will need more money than 3K, end of story - the fuel and driveline parts really add up fast. Why don't you get a nice heads/cam package, then decide if you want more?

If you have the resorces and some people who know what they are doing and get a good deal on some used parts I think it can be done. Another thing you might want to think about which is where I am at in the process of my WS6 is you are going to have to hack some things up if you are going to do like a custom kit. I am going with the truck manifold's and so far I have had to remove AC, notch the K-member and also am looking at hacking the core support for the radiator up or buy a smaller radiator. Right now off the top of my head here is what I have spent so far and I think I am pretty damn close to being done buying parts. Also keep in mind I have 2 people helping me that are excelent machinist and have already fabbed turbo kits in a few other cars aswell as knowing people to get pipes from.

Turbonetics T76 $1000 (used off here)
Intercooler $225 (new off here)
BOV $100 (new but a knockoff)
Wastegate $70 (new also a knockoff)
Piping $250 (local)
Couplers $30 (Local junk yard)
60lb Injectors $330 (used off here)
Gauges $100 (summit)

Can't think of anything else right now its kinda late and we just got done working on the car so add that up and see what that comes too but like I said I also have two people doing the custom work too. Good Luck

I told you to buy my kit man. $3300. If you could unclentch your *** for one minute and manage to squeeze another measily $1200 (that's still only $4500!!!) then you could buy the injectors, pump, valvesprings and tune to support it. You're talking $4500 for a car that will beat or at least hang with most head/cam/header/intake/nitrous cars, without having to refill the bottle. Trust me, that **** gets expensive. This guy's *** is so tight he could suck a brick out of a wall. lol. j/k.

Dont f around.
double your budget, get a aps kit, or old incon.
you will wast more money and time trying to save money.
Do it once do it right. If you dont want to be in the garage fixing problems once a month trust me.
I have had a incon kit since 02. It was installed and tuned and thats it.
I have 16000mi on it and have cleaned the air filters 3 times.
400rwhp is a waste for FI, just do a head and cam job for that.
Im pushing close to 600rwhp on the stock shortblock for 5 years.
I cant tell you haw much I love the car, Its an animal.
You should get the aps kit, down the road when the boost bug bites you, you will have room to grow.
Also people say do the car first to handel the power.
I say fix it when stuff blows. My 10 bolt lasted 10000mi., I still have the stock trans and motor. I dont have a big budget, by the time I would have done the motor trans rear and suspension I would have had no money for the turbo kit.
So do the aps kit, low boost, no more then 8#, get a good clutch, and tune......
I say 7000 or so and you'll be good to go.
Your not going to want a slow turbo car.

I know you asked for a turbo, BUT you can find used P-1SC kits for around the range you are talking. I got my kit initially for just under 3000 and that included injectors and an inline pump. Now I did upgrade a LOT of stuff like getting an 8-rib setup, metal plenum, race bypass valve, etc. etc. But I could have done without those items. With a totally stock longblock and exhaust manifolds I ended up with 454 rwhp. The P-1SC kits are way simpler than any turbo system and easier to install since it literally just bolts on... Just throwin it out there, I don't see how you can do a complete turbo kit for 3k tho... Good luck

Dude pay attention to the aussie kits when you are talking about 3,000 bucks what is another 2,000. There's nothing like spending your max limit and just settling for what you can get and the ol boy next to ya has the kit you really want and smokes your *** while your piece together kit breaks down on ya.
