LS2 can handle the 1000hp all day. get a LS2 block and build a forged bottom end or buy a shortblock built from one of the sponsors.
750 crank max? You are on crack dude, quit trying to sound like you know what you are talking about.

I ain't no genious but I am certain the stock LS1 crank will support close to 1000rwhp no prob. Its the rods and pistons that let go. EPP and other sponsors have done numerous setups with some serious power reusing the stock crank. So I disagreee with the statement doubting the god given LS1. As for the poster's concern, I agree with most. It depends mostly on budget. A smart thing to do is sell your current setup for cash to buy a new one instead of modifying it more on blowing it up. I was in the same predicament and this is what I am doing. I am currently going with a 408 and a single front mount turbo. It all depends on goals and buget. I also think I might keep my original/stock block so I can throw it back in if I want to someday, thats another option too. #'s matching, they don't make birds anymore, LOL. As for your goals, they are pretty much the same as mine. Stock cubes will get ya there. Another reason other than the 408 sounding cool while delivering some nice tourque is the room to grow in the future if I decide to step it up a notch. Just remember the bigger the cubes the bigger the turbo/supercharger needed. Its a vicious cycle, prepare so spend some money either way. I did not vote because I told you my opinion and you could go any of those routes to meet your goal. Just depends on your wallet. Good luck.

Hmmm, I don't know how truthful this statement is... KP has been running his little 348ci for something like 300 passes in one season... If you're not familiar with his setup he runs CONSISTENT low 9's... The only problem he really had was pushing water but he helped that with changing to some AFR heads which have a thicker deck... If my memory serves he's pushing somewhere around 750rwhp through a th400 which is more power hungry than a 4L60e when it comes to drivetrain loss... do the math and that puts him around 1000fwhp... He has his tune, suspension, and launch dead set on which is a big help too..
