True...
I drove an engine until the crankshaft broke one time. Oil pressure appeared fine on the gauge, so I assumed the rattling wasnt anything too serious. It really wasnt that loud...well at first anyway.
After that, I learned oil only flows in one direction through most oil filters.....and I had just changed my remote filter housing![Sad](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_sad.gif)
When you measure pressure at the pump...its going to look like it has pressure if its only going as far as the filter, which is almost a dead end !!
Such carnage !!!! was pretty cool though.

definitely dont always hear detonation. Everyone knows I have blown several motors. Once the power gets north of 700rwhp, you have a problem and it seems they just lay down...no noise until you stop and hear it at idle, if then. I am with KP, looks like detonation/preignition.. you are up there with the timing...wonder if it was too much for the plugs plus the lean mixture
