True...

I drove an engine until the crankshaft broke one time. Oil pressure appeared fine on the gauge, so I assumed the rattling wasnt anything too serious. It really wasnt that loud...well at first anyway.

After that, I learned oil only flows in one direction through most oil filters.....and I had just changed my remote filter housing

When you measure pressure at the pump...its going to look like it has pressure if its only going as far as the filter, which is almost a dead end !!

Such carnage !!!! was pretty cool though.

definitely dont always hear detonation. Everyone knows I have blown several motors. Once the power gets north of 700rwhp, you have a problem and it seems they just lay down...no noise until you stop and hear it at idle, if then. I am with KP, looks like detonation/preignition.. you are up there with the timing...wonder if it was too much for the plugs plus the lean mixture
