Default Purchased a Vortech kit now what ??

A local shop had a great deal on a used Vortech Kit I couldnt pass up It's the V-9 g trim with the powercooler.Vortech Advertises 470 hp which is a good number but my goal is to be at 530-550 range. I have a 01 SS with 13k only mods are a lid and some kooks headers and OFY being installed this week. Ive already order a ASP 2.95 pulley and have the option to upgrade to LS6 heads and cam for a steal. Will this get me to my goal ?? and will a LS7 clutch hold this combination. Thanks in advance for you input

Yes the Gtrim will get you to 530 to 550 Flywheel HP which is what they rate the 470 at. It can get you to 530 to 550 RWHP as well.. Depending on all the other mods needed, Headers, Exhaust Etc..

My buddy's Son has a 99 SS Stock with Pace Setter Headers and G Trim Making 11psi of boost.. He put down 565RWHP with that setup..

Be careful. With too much drag and spin up, he spun the damper on the crank because it was not keyed..

I always say to key the crank if your going to push over 500RWHP.. Never the less Always watch the crank bolt as over time they will work loose.. Happens all the time...

Yeah its just best to pin the crank with and ATI pin kit and that way you will not have any issues with it. I would also recoment a Racetronics intake pump with a MSD BAP and a set of #60 injectors if you are going to go over the 500rwhp mark. If you are going to stay under 500 then the inline fp will work. Let me know if you have problems I ran that set up for a few years.

I'd say jsut run your stock heads if I were you and get a blower cam. I got a comp 224/228 .581/.588 114LSA. If you get some good flowing heads you would be over that barrier and might even reach 600rwhp with 10psi. I think that starts hendering you stock internal limits obvioulsy. With a similar cam I mentioned on 8psi boost you would easily reach that goal, have nice drivabilty and still retaing reliabilty, depending on your foot of coarse. You have a 2001 right because if you do you already have the LS6 heads and cam

That is incorrect. Those 2 things are the bulk of what makes an LS6 an LS6.

The only LS6 thing it may have is the Intake Manifold. And that's about it.

It's right here on ls1tech.com! If you use the quote button to post a message, then press "[More]" underneath the collection of smileys, you get a new window full of other smileys. It's on there somewhere. A little over half way down on the right side.
