Help with prepping a motor for Turbo
I've been lurking and searching for the past few weeks. I'll be going with a KYTP kit and the fuel upgrade. So I was lurking around to see what else I would need to make this motor to make 550rwhp. Here is what I have now.
Its a 98 with 100k on the clock. It has all the bolt ons for now, headers/ls6intake etc. I was planning on getting some 6.0 heads to lower my compression. I was also planning on doing new rod bolts/top end with a turbo cam for the valvetrain. Do any of you experienced turbo guys think I'll need to run some forged pistons/rods for 550RWHP? I am working on getting a LS1 motor to build on a stand for this particular setup. So Id like not to have to replace my rotating assembly on my current motor and still be able to get 550RWHP. No sense in doing it twice while I build a forged motor on the stand for this setup. Is it possible to still attain 550RWHP with the stock pistons/rods? I'd also get the car tuned at Livernois Motorsports, so tuning will be good. All comments/criticism is welcome.

it will work but for how long. its worth it to go ahead and get forged rods/pistons so you can detonate some (we all have) and also so you can turn it up in the future which we all know you will

I might as well just redo the motor I have now, Since this will all be happenining during the winter when I won't be driving the car. I figure Im going to spend about 6500 for the turbo kit/fuel upgrades new rotating assembly and valvetrain items. and then Im going to go on the hunt for an 8.8 rear that I can get fabbed up to hold this kind of power! Do any of you guys have an estimate about how radical the car will have to be to make 550rWHP?
