I'm basing my comment on the three T-Types I've driven; all three had column shifts.

I was just getting ready to ask you if it was a limited. It sure looked like one with the 2 tone, chrome on the bottoms of the doors, lights in the vinyl top & of course the limited badges, I just couldn't see the 1/2 console that the limited's get in your pics. Very nice & rare car. As was mentioned above, get to turbobuick.com & get all of your tune up info.

FWIW, my T-Type is a floor shift model. A lot of T's came with floor shift.

Every T-Type I've ever seen had a column shifter.

There's an awful lot of specific information on these cars that you should learn before doing anything to the car. For instance, the intercooler is probably full of oil film and the fuel pump is probably bad, both of which are leading to the detonation issues. My advice is to do alot of research before doing much else to the car.

first things to do:
walbro 255 pump and new filter
change all fluids and filters
Adj Fuel press reg
65# injectors
Turbo Tweak chip
You will pick up about 40hp doing those mods, and it will be much more drivable. Also go with the 65#ers right away, trust me on that one. Then:
downpipe
exhaust !Cat
RJC racing power plate
Bigger turbo, i recommend the precision GT6131E for up to 450hp

Nice info guys...

Thanks for the heads-up Mike. I'm thinking he already pulled the IC to paint it thus hopefully draining any oil film out. I will however take a look at that when I get a chance. Fuel pump...I've heard they're not much good over stock anyways so that will probably be the next thing to get replaced.

This man has been around turbo Buicks a bit. With the parts he listed above, a double stack intercooler, and Methanol injection, you can tweak one of these cars into the 10's with stock driveability, near stock appearance, and not even have to pull the valve covers. One of the cool things about this car is that you can keep the stock converter and gears and run deep in the 10's.

look over on gnttype.org or turbobuick.com, check into the "spring cleaning" for these cars. not difficult to run in the 11's with a little work. good luck with it and sorry for the loss.
