Default V-band vs Ball-Socket

I was searching around on the forum and really didnt find the information, more on where to find 5 inch V-bands (from big truck shops btw) but anyways. I searched here and did a google search and went threw about 12 other car forums, and i keep getting mixed opinions on v-bands. Some people hate them becuase they leak, while others love becuase of their quick ability to change pipes. Then they complain that no matter how tight you get it, it will still do alittle leak. I've never tried V-bands and have always used ball socket kinds with great success. Was wondering if they would be ok for a turbo setup on the hotside.

and just to educate myself. dose anyone have directions on how to install v-bands just in case i get told i'd have to use v-bands on the hot side.

thanks!
