I use 7317s (tapered seat, R5724-8), I have had some missfire issues with the retracted gaps. NGK racing plugs all start with R, R is for racing. If there is an R in a non-racing NGK plug then its a resistor. If you put non resistor plugs in and it missfires take them out and put resistor plugs in - pretty simple

If your a/f is close to 13:1-14:1 at idle you wont foul the 8s, I even run 9s sometimes and have never fouled a plug.

its not so easy to see in this pic. But these Racing Iridium Denso's use the electrode I was talking about too. Its straight, and mounted at an angle towards the tip of the plug.

These are my new favorite plugs, Autolite AR94. They drive just as nicely as the TR6s did and they are a much colder and safer plug.

I emailed NGK out of curiosity....telling them of my spec etc...

This is their reply.

Thank you for contacting NGK Spark plugs (USA).

If the heads require the tapered seat plug (as they do in the US) I
would suggest the TR7IX or the one heat range cooler TR8IX, to be sure
you have the proper chamber projection and seal.

Otherwise I would have you try the BKR7EIX (same heat range as you have
now) or the colder BKR8EIX. These iridium plugs should help increase
performance slightly due to the tapered cut ground electrode. Hope this
helps, thank you.
but damn these BKR8EIX's are expensive. ( as I pictured )

Not as bad as I first thought. I thought they were similar pricing to the "racing" Iridiums, that are circa $40 ea.

Ive been using NGK Double platinums for about 2 years now, with no problems. I have melted some recently, but thats down to tuning, not the plugs. But it also has me wondering would a cooler plug, be worth a shot.
These are the PFR7B, less the electrode lol. OOPS !!!!

Im guessing any heat range change wont make a difference to this happening ? lol. Surprisingly, the car still ran fine like this....well, aside from the lost compression due to ring damage.

Cool, Thank's. My only concern after looking at the link's you posted of the different plug's is my plug's electrode's are recessed and MM,KP's are protruding, but both set's are heat range 8, I believe. I think the range 8 with the prtruding tip would be better? Not sure though.
