Could the slippage be increased due to you running a 3.25 gear?

Yeah, mines slipping a ton but I'm on a stock 4l60e with a SS4000, not exactly the best for FI. 167s even better than people realize if your converters slipping that much. I'm pretty sure I'm going to just switch to a th400 too. I heard Neal Chance makes some real nice converters so I might look into those.

Maybe? It seems excessive. I think that if I switch to a 3.50 gear that I'll run out!

It's the converter. I'm running a 3.00 gear and +3800lbs....much less power than you but Neal Chance (Marty) can make an efficient converter.

Chance or PTC....PTC will be cheaper price wise....a lot of good feedback on them at turbomustangs.com I am going to contact them and see if they can make one for a 80e

Ive seen alot of negative feedback latley on PTC on Yellow Bullet.....

Probably not a single best out there. Just look at the 7,8,low9 turbo guys on the list and you'll see Chance (my favorite), MidWest,PTC,Coan,Hughes,etc...pros and cons to all of them...finding somebody that will make one for your car is key to a turbo converter.
