The word in town is that the weather is here to stay and the event was just called. All monies to be split between the remaining cars? I'm trying to get confirmation from the owners of Speed World but my source is a local speed shop owner so Im 99% sure this is accurate.

If they race each other is it an all out race or is one going to to be deemed having a better chance taking the whole thing?

Full concrete wall to the end of the shut down area. OSW spent a lot of $ this year to really make the track safer for everyone. The track was hooking hard at the line but the big turbo cars were having some trouble @ 330ft, about the time most guys have their boost controllers/ Nitrous controllers set to hit kill mode. A local friend of mine was hitting full boost ( 35ish psi ) @ 330 ft ( 8.20 @ 175+ car) and holding good but many other cars were getting loose at the same point. It rained hard late on friday, then some more rain on Sat with thick clouds both days. Sunday was great as the sun came out and got some heat in the track but it rained late and after the dry up is when things got a little hairy. Qualifing Friday had no accidents, and Saturday was good also. Sunday is when everyone goes hard and **** happens. By no means is OSW the best track in the world but the cars that were set up properly and the ones that had good/smart drivers were fine. The crashes were mostly from guys who just couldn't allow themselves to lift or had a major suspension mis-calculation. All in all the event was awesome its just unfortunate that the weather won't allow for a safe finale.

The race was called. People were racing for a big purse and bragging rights so I understand them keeping the pedal down.

oh well there's always next year.

Mike and Steve both won in the 2nd round, but got screwed in the end because they took the best e.t. in round 1 to determine the winners.
They should have gave the trophy and jacket to the fastest in round 1 and then split the money between the remaining 13 drivers. But I guess no matter how it was done there would be someone that wasn't happy.

That's good that they updated the track. I remember the red car last year that tagged the metal rail and ramped right over it.

Also heard that they made Mike and Steve sign something that they had to forfeit (along those lines, terms may vary) their 2nd round wins to get their 100 bucks. Any truth to that or just rumor.

When only 2 or 3 Promod BIG tire BIG wing cars can only run 6.50's i think that says something about the tracks condition.

It would have been better if they just drew names out of a hat for the money.....at least guys would not get penalized just for lifting ******* gay if you ask me

I also heard that, I didn't ask them and they didn't say anything so I don't really know. I am sure they will chime in when they get a chance.

Seen that on YB too, but I didn't post it b/c I've only seen one person say it. I'll wait to see what Mike and Steve say. After a big event ends like that, you'll always have a lot of rumors running wild by people who got the short end of the stick.

Even the guys in NHRA need to lift sometimes. I wouldn't say its gay to lift and save your 100,000+ dollar racecar at any level. Lets see First place for Drag Radial is 10K, My car is worth 100K, I think Ill lift.

When It rains 3 days in a row the track can only be so good but if you weren't there how can you judge. I live in Orlando and go to this race every year for the last 8-10 years.

Let me give you a few facts:

1. Last year the fastest pro mod time was .1 and 3 mph slower than this year and they didn't even finish the event. THIS WAS THE SAME CAR
Annette Summer 63 promod vette last year 6.4X @ 223
Annette Summer 63 promod vette this year 6.37 @ 225 or 226

2. Last year the Drag Radial bump was 8.40 with 3 qualifying passes this year it was 8.35 with only 2 qualifying passes.

I will never defend the OSW track because they treat it like **** most of the year and only make it nice for the 3 big events they have each year but the cars that were setup worked fine. The Ohio boys cars were dead straight every pass, Annete's Vette was on a rail, Wolfe's Drag Radial mustang went 7.7 ? @ 190 dead straight. All I'm saying is things were not all that bad and the great cars worked just fine.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3l6FavjbBQ
i didnt get her 6.38 pass.

here is Wolfes Mustang on the 7.70 pass...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVMsgsN1k8M

i've got some more as well, all as crappy of quality and some worse lol.
have some f-cars on tape, dont know who they were tho...

we left about 4:45 Sunday for the 18hr drive back to IL. appears it was a good call to leave early during the rain delay/cancel.

I don't think he was saying it was gay to lift. I think what he was saying is that is was gay to reward those that didn't lift.

Not saying that at all. I am personal friends with Mike and Steve....taught them everything they know

What I meant was that the winners were decided based on their ET in a given round. Both Mike and Steve had won their passes and both lifted in that round, thus they did not have a good ET, and thus were cut out of the big money. Pretty gay of you ask me.
