The reason the piping looks complicated is that it all runs outside the engine bay, but has been designed to give full clearance of the wheel/tyre in hard turning full lock conditions. In fact the engine bay is very simple!

Same ute went 1000 mile return road trip carrying tools over to a drag meeting.....took the tools out, bolted some M/T Radials on the rear, and with totally stock engine (918 springs only) stock diff gears (2.92) stock 6 speed auto etc went 11.2 @ 128mph left in 'D' for Drive at a little over 4000lb
