Max boost with Stock compr w/ built motor
I have an opportunity to purchase a 347 cu in forged short block with mahle pistons and scat rods. It has a flat top piston with 4cc valve reliefs.
Now I am trying to drop the compression with different head with bigger combustion chambers. Now the lowest I think I can get the compression is 9.8:1 with a .051in gasket thickness with a 66cc combustion chamber.
Now I figured it would not be safe to run a gasket that thick in boost applications. Now what would be the maximum amount of boost could i run before I have to seriously worry about detonation on stock compression with 91 octane with a decent tune with a decent blower or turbo (high CFM)?
