I have a friend that just bought a 99 ss camero with an sts turbo set up . yesterday he was driving along when the rpm went nuts . he shut the car off waited a minute started it again and zoom the rrs went nuts again . what caused this ? is the 99 have that throttle setup that has no cable ? is there anyone in or around San Andreas ca that might be able to look at this car. i am 600 miles away ,hes a good guy that loves his new ride . nice car too has Fikses, aftermarket suspension and the turbo , beautifull blk paint . thanx in advance

All fbodies have a cable controlled throttle body. When I had a 2000 SS, the cable would stick every now and then at WOT. First time it did it, it scared the p!ss out of me.

Definately check the throttle cable for smooth operation from closed throttle to WOT. I know some of the V6 Fbody's have the fly by wire setup but as far as I know not the V8's.

up date onmyfriends car . the guy he bought it from didnt have the air cleaneron it .so the t body got gunked up and caused the throttle not to be able to close all the way and the smoke was from the ck valve on the oil line to the turbo being stuck .
