We're making 740 rwhp (Mustang Dyno to boot) with stock maf, stock throttle body, shorty headers and factory cats on this Corvette.

On one car that was making 850rwhp with the stock throttle body, I swapped it with a 90mm (tapered to match up with the ls6 intake) and it picked up only 6rwhp. At that level could have just been a variance between runs.

I can't see the TB being a restriction as long as it is as big or bigger than the intake pipes. So unless you are running 3.5" pipe to the intake to warrant a 90mm TB, it seems worthless IMO...

I was also thinking about this but alittle more, as in bigger maf, bigger throttle body, and bigger intake manifold.? Would say a LS2 90mm intake manifold and a 85 or 90mm TB outperform a stock 75/78mm application by much? And this application would be a turbocharged one under 650rwhp
Ideas or opinions would be much appreciated THANKS

Even if the intake needs one...I still dont think anything larger than stock is necessary until in excess of 1000rwhp.

In fact, even at that....whether its necessary or not could still be in dispute.

My thinking with my turbo setup was to go 90mm and then I knew it would be as good as stock and not be a restriction. Usually I see 105mm stuff on 7 second and faster cars.

Even the simple math supports this - 500rwhp easy on an NA motor with a 78 so doubling the air (15 psi) it should be good for 1000....

The only thing fitting a larger TB does, is reduce throttle resolution on a FI car. ( would be most noticeable on a turbo car )

so is it the concensus here that if im looking at around 800 rwhp thru an auto it would not be any kind of a significant gain to warrent spending the money?
