Default Oiling the turbo

OK...sorry if this has been discussed else where...but here it is.
I'm installing my ptk style turbo kit this weekend and I'm considering using an oil cooler kit that has this oil filter sandwich adapter with feed and return fittings...any thoughts?...i also have a turbo feed/return universal t4 kit i bought ..but it has no instructions on what to use and where...seem like a box of misc. parts to me..
the oiling part is where I'm torn and stumped and help with the cooler idea or the turbo oil kit would be MUCH appreciated

You can NOT have oil returning to the motor under pressure like with an oil filter/cooler sandwich thingy. The oil MUST gravity drain out of the turbo back to the motor, or it will push right past the seals in the turbo and smoke really bad...

You are best off either draining to the timing cover or the oil pan with a -10. You want the line to gravity feed down. If the oil has to go uphill then you need a pump.

If you go to the timing cover, it looks like you just have to pull the crank pulley. If you go to the pan, you have to support the motor, and take some bolts out of the k member.

I think taking the oil pan out would be harder, but its also lower, and depending on where the turbo is, it might be a better option. Search and you can find pictures of how everyone does it on ls1tech.

Good luck, Chris
