Maxium boost vs. Block integrity

Maxium boost vs. Block integrity Where do we start to worry with an aluminum block(forged internals) about lifting heads off, blowing head gaskets, and possibly splitting the block ? Is there a set safe maxium for these blocks? I think the highest boost I have seen is like 18#'s.

Re: Maxium boost vs. Block integrity I cracked cylinder bore #7, but that was only because the piston was banging on a chunk of ring landing. A chunk of ring landing in the squish zone at 12-o'clock causes the piston to rotate on it's pin and bang it's skirt against 6-o'clock, cracking the cylinder. This was at about 9-10psi(estimate) and stock pistons.
Re: Maxium boost vs. Block integrity I'd say anyone over 15psi should be investing in heads studs and should tune their combo well.
There are very few folks over 20 lbs of boost. Ronnie Duke's 382ci has seen over 20 psi, he has o-ringed heads and an aftermarket engine managment system. I forget what Harlan has hit.

Re: Maxium boost vs. Block integrity i have been over 22psi for a short period of time, case in point boost pressure in the intake does not danger the cylinder components.. the amount of air inside the cylinder is what does.
i am probably not even over 600rw at that boost level, though I do not have an excuse why not
