Default how does this look...

ive posted before about this but i think i finally made up my mind. im looking to build a motor to run about 750-850rwhp. this car wont be driven much on the street but taken out occasionally on nice summer days for a cruise. heres the list.

LS2 block
4 inch Callies crank
Compstar rods
Custom JE pistons
9:1 SCR
AFR 225 heads
1 7/8 Kooks headers
F1A Procharger (not sure on the front mount)
Alky Control methanol injection kit
th400 (not sure what converter)
12 bolt (not sure on gear)

would i be able to make that power out of this combo and what would you change?

I'd up the compression by half a point to 9.5/1.
The twin 4.5" thick ProCharger intercoolers will work if you use methanol.
This is the kit I recommend.

I'd go nine inch over the 12 bolt.
Here is the nine inch I recommend.

What you have outlined closely resembles this build we did on my Z28.

Take a look at what we did for my fuel system, as you are going to need something very similar. Bob

I think you would be better off with a 9 bolt.

like bob said, up the compression to 9.5, and I would go with a 9 inch with a spool in that power range. definetly go with a nice front mount intercooler like Bobs from EPP

For 750 to 850 rwhp, he is going to have a much easier time at it with an F1A. With the F1A the ProCharger 8 rib bracket system will work just fine, plus the blower fits without a lot of hassles. Bob

I would go with a more durable driveshaft than the stock since you are already changing out the rear end and tranny, plus of course a driveshaft safety loop.

9.5:1? I was looking at doing 8.5:1 for mine, how would this change effect the car going from 8.5, to 9.0, to 9.5? Just faster spool? I'm planning on using an ST80

Oh really? 8:5:1 would be a dog? How about showing some facts to back that up before making that statement. That just means you need to run more boost. Than mine must be a "dog" right? 717rwhp 703rwtq at 15 pounds of boost on a TH400 automatic, pump gas, no alky, etc. That sure sounds like a dog to me at running 8:5:1.

This is why I cant decide on a CR, alot say 8.5 is TOO low and alot say 8.5 is good, some say 9 or 9.5. I'm hoping EPP with chime in with their expiriences and why they recomended 9.5 for this guy?

If you are going procharger, listening to anyone else on this site for build advice besides any of the EPP guys (and a few select others) would be retarded.

Go 9.5 like Bob said and don't look back. Recently, it seems members are over-thinking compression.

if your going the procharger route go with 9.5, if your going turbo it seems like they need to run a little less compression at the same boost levels to be safe. my last combo was 9.5 making 683 rwhp with no issues, my new combo will be a lot more than that and also is at 9.5. check out EPPs site, you will see there are plenty of cars with prochargers on them at 9.5 with no issues

There are many factors to consider when deciding the CR. I was simply replying to the statement that 8:5:1 would run like a dog, as that is not the case. Look at some of the Large Horse Power builds and you will see Compression ranges going from 8:0 to 10:0 or higher depending on build, running alky, octane, etc. I agree that 9:0 to 9:5 with a blower looking for those numbers running pump gas sure, would not be wrong with either one of those and of course take Bob's recommendation especially when it comes to blowers. Now saying listening to anyone else on this site besides EPP or your select few is retarded, well thats retarded in itself. That is what this site for is getting experiences from others as others also have well proven combos. All this being said, 9:5 would be a good compression and will get you where you want.
