Default Flipped manifold guys...

Those of you running a flipped manifold setup with a t4 style turbo(MP t70 for example), are you bracing the turbo at all? Or is it light enough to not need any bracing?

With the setups that keep the turbo low(Center of the car, just above the crank pulley basically), how would you even brace it if need be?

Were running a PTE GT42-76 with a truck manifold setup, and were gonna brace it. It seems like it would be ok, but better safe than sorry I guess.

I was thinking the same thing. I have fliped manis on my car and i built the crossover my self and the v-band clamp on the WG rests on the side of my radiator so the turbo is pretty solid and i dont think i will need bracing. But then as broke ef said its best to be safe its not that much work to brace it.

Im not 100% sure, but i dont think the kentucky kit uses a brace. They havn't had any issues yet, but they are also running a turbonetics t76, and we(Broke Ef and myself) are running a decently larger gt4276. Our merge is solid. I could stand on it, and it wont move, but with how hot the turbo gets, then cooling, then hot, the metal may become weaker, and we may get a crack the welds. If... it did get a little crack no big deal, i weld it up.. If the turbo falls off the car, and i run it over... Bad! So we will figure something out to lock down the 50 pound expensive beast.

I haven't used any braces all the way up to the PT88 builds I have done. The ST80 and larger builds will be braced just for the added piece of mind. No point in having to worry about it.

cast manifolds and plenty stout crossover here. I didn't see a need to brace the turbo. I've run a GT42, MPT70 and now a Tnetics 76....and all is great. If I had tubular manifolds, you'd bet I'd have flex joints and a support for any turbo I ran.
