I have owned several rides with no A/C but with this one I have for the first time teetered on what to do. I better get it figured out in a hurry.

Did you miss not having a/c in any of those rides? I know some people who can live without a/c in a car in the summer......but NOT me!!

There are too many cars going really fast with clean kits that keep a/c. I know its so easy to just rip it out and call it a day. But personally i think a really fast car with all its features is really cool. Anyone can just gut away.

What are the options to keep A/C, besides OFI kit (~$1500 just for headers) ?

I am wondering whether or not to run accessories such as AC and power steering or ditch them in favor of a flaming river manual rack and just sweating during the sweltering summer months here in the deep South. I am also struggling over the issue of installing either the TH400/ATI convertor combo that I have or a 4L80E (Already have.) and a Vigilante multi-disk lockup. Never thought I struggling over such issues. Any and all relative opinions are welcome and thank you in advance.

Unless you're a serious drag racer trying to squeaze every .10 sec out of your car, I think anyone would be nuts to get rid of the A/C. There are single turbo kits and TT kits that retain A/C and can make 600, 800, 1000 or 1,500 RWHP. It makes no sense to lose A/C if its a street/strip car and definitely if its just a street car.

Thats just me though.

KYTP will also make you a single turbo kit that retains A/C. (sponsor)

APS has the TT kit that retains A/C. (sponsor)

also you can run your pipes under the k member, will limit ground clearance but not a terrible option if you're at stock height and don't do much bump-stop/pot-hole driving. and if you don't want to do that I've heard of many going with the tubular k member and running the pipes through them. THIS IS, if you had a custom kit made.

I am thinking about getting a BMR or some sort turbo K member and thinking about taking it to a friend who does alot of fab work and let him go at it. I am going to keep the AC because it is too important to me.

As it appears to me now, keeping A/C will cost roughly $1200-1300 (in custom headers)

or just use stock manifolds and route your pipes through a tubular k member ($400-$600)
