Default Problems after turbo install - re: coolant

Its a 99 Z28, i installed 317 heads, Z06 cam, ls6 intake, shorties, 60# injectors, w/ meth kit & rear mount 72mm turbo.

I ran the heads/cam/intake setup for a week or two before doing the turbo... no problems.

For some reason now with the turbo i am having a problem with the coolant system. All the coolant gets pushed into the reservor and then out through the reservor cap. It doesnt seem to do it unless im in boost and shifting at higher rpms (right now im maxed at 4500 rpms till i replace the fuel pump).

Im thinking maybe i used the wrong gaskets for these heads? (GMPN 12498543) Stock GM ls1 head gaskets. And maybe they dont meet with the 6.0L heads correctly? The ARP head bolts are torqued to 85ftlbs w/ motor oil.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I really want to get her back on the road! Thanks!

317 heads need 317 head gaskets. I'm sure your leaking into the cooling system. I used the GM MLS 12589227 head gaskets about $72.00 for the pair
I'm running almost the same set up as you but I'm running a 70mm with FMIC instead of meth. What kind of numbers and track times are you planning for?

yes, need the 6.0l headgaskets with 6.0l heads. You need to match the gaskets to the heads, not the block. I had both gaskets here and put them both up to the 6.0l heads and the 5.7l gasket chambers are wayy smaller than the head chambers. Swap out gaskets and it should fix your issue.

thanks guys...

Im hoping for around 550hp... and without launching hard (stock rearend) and 3.23 gears high 10's, low 11's. But here in las vegas, our times are consistently higher then pretty much anywhere else.

How about you?

550 is right about what I want to run. I don't go to the track around here, because a thousand cars show up and your lucky to get one run. Are you A4 or M6? MY last time on the dyno before the 317 I accidently hit 9.5 psi and made 540 rwtq at 5400 rpm I think with these heads and a reliable 10psi I should hit my goals. What A/R are you running I;ve got a p-trim .81 I see full boost by 3200 rpm except 1st and 2nd!

M6

Well on my dyno tune we got 410/450 @ around 4000RPM with 8lbs of boost... till the fuel pump was maxed out, so its time to do a fuel pump. We didnt want to run it lean, so thats really the only number i have. After the pump install & the new headgaskets ill have her back on. Probably not this weekend cuz ill be out of town, but the following...

How did you do your piping? Coated? Wrapped?

I did both, but the wrapping got caught on a speedbump and ripped off... sigh, but this thing spools up alot faster then i thought it would being a rearmount... Your seeing full boost at 3200?... thats not bad at all. I know i have 3-4lbs by 2500, but not too sure after that. Ill let you know when i get her done. Do you have a dyno sheet or anything i could look at. You can PM it to me, id be interested to see.

Also what gears are you running?
