Default NGK TR8 vs. gasketed plug

The plugs in question:

Stock no. 7317, R5724-8

Stock no. 7173, R5672A-8

The second one is gasketed, are these plugs the same heat range. MMouse, what plugs are you running, gasketed 3911's?

I'm runnnig Allpro heads and gasketed plugs were suggested a long time ago and I still run them, but the other plugs don't look like they would really protrude more into the combustion chamber.

7317 is a stock type head plug with the stock 0.708" reach. Any after market head that is designed for a stock reach tapered seat plug can use that series.

7173 is a 0.750" reach non tapered seat. It's up to the head design to see if it matches that plug. "Should" be the same heat range....it's just a head design question.

Installed height of gasket/non gasket plugs is negligable. They are basically the same in the chamber.

Ive tried a few different plugs in my 853, Edelbrock, and now TFS heads ( TR6 and various gasketed ) I posted the pics up ages ago here somewhere.

These heads are intended for taper plugs, Ive pretty much always run gasketed plugs, as virtually no cars in Europe/UK use taper seats, so its hassle to get them.

Currently using BKR8IEX as reccommended by NGK. So far no complaints.

not all ET's have a taper seat.

Gasket into taper ok, taper into gasket = fubar'd first couple threads.

check the heads first.
