best motor to turbo?
but for now, i wanted to drop an LSx motor with a T56 in a FD rx7. i also wanted to possibly turbo it (i used to have a turbo supra), i miss turbo cars

what is the best way/motor to turbo. i am not looking for crazy supra type horsepower (750whp was what i had) but rather a useable horsepower that will help in the top end range. 500-550whp or so?
i know there are like LS1, 2, 3, 6, 7 etc. i really dont' know that much difference between them except 6 was the c5 z06 and 7 was the c6 z06
thanks for your guys' help
Get a '99-02 F-body (Camaro/Firebird/TransAm) engine (cable throttlebody) if you are doing the RX-7 swap. Corvette accessories won't clear and the oil pan won't either. The '04 GTO engine is less desireable than an '05-06 setup. These setups work also by have DBW (drive by wire throttlebodies)
If you must have a turbo setup.... the stock pistons fail at around 600rwhp for longevity sake. You will get by with a stock shortblock... but not for long. To do a turbo setup for only 550rwhp is kind of a waste of money. You need forged pistons and upgraded rods at the minimum. That buildup will cost $2-5K depending how wild you go and what parts you reuse. 1000rwhp with an LS2 aluminum block, stock crank, upgraded rods/pistons, stock Z06 cam, LS6 intake/TB, upgraded heads (with thicker decks) has been done time and time again with a turbo setup.
If you want to learn more about LSx RX-7 swaps and all the questions you could possibly encounter look here:

(search for a few hours before asking questions like on here). All the info is there... YOU just need to take the time to search for it. Search and ask the remaining questions you have.
I have a built LS1/T56 for sale in the classifieds perfect for a swap.
