Default is a single 88 to big for a 408?

Is a single 88 to big for a 408? I am thinking of either running twin 68's or a single 88. Its 99% street driven so I think twins would spool way faster but is it worth the extra $? I can get a gt4788 for around $1200 or I can get twin tc68's for around $1700, not to mention the extra Wg, flange, Dp, and all that fun stuff.

A 88 is defiantly not to big for a 408. Depending on the power you want to make you could spin some decent sized twins too.

One good thing about the twin set up is usually better spool time and a higher potential for more power.

I had a single 76gts on my 347 and now I have twin 66's. I am waiting on a turbo to come back from Tnetics and than I will get it running.

My TC66's are T4 flange and with the 38mm gates I have, I can sell the 66's and go all they way to twin 78's down the road. It would take a larger single than a 4788 as well as changing the hot parts to get the power of twin 78's over 1 GT55 or something similar.

Just my .02

Alot of us are running 91's on 408's. An 88 should be a good size for a 408 with 1000hp potential

4788 would be just fine for 800whp.

I'm new to turbos, but the 88mm is not too big. As for a Twin set up being better than a single, I don't know... I have seen some Fast single turbo cars that spool up very fast.

I'm building a single 66mm system for a stock 346 LS1. I'm looking for around 500-550rwhp.

But, good luck with the build and post up some pics if you can we all would love to see.

With the right 88 yes it will work. A/R on a 1000rwhp car needs to be enough to meet the turbine side lbs/min to feed 1000rwhp. Typically around ~55lbs/min

just doing some basic calculations looks like you want something that can handle 75lbs/min at around 2.2 pressure ratio.

an 80 mm will get you into boost faster and more than handle your goals.

I have a friend with a 408ci + GT47-88 and he made 920rwhp on a load dyno, good stuff. I think twin 66's are very cool too.
