Default SMC alky injection...

anyone here use this or even a homemade alky kit? i know the gn guys have been using them for years and have great results with them. i surely figure that it can help when pushing boost to avoid detonation and cool the intake charge. any comments/criticisms/advice?

Corky Bell says alky injection is just a band aid for a poor set-up/tuning... who knows..

I thought about running it with my Incon set-up on my mustang.. but never did.

How much boost are you running now?

If you running low boost, i think you would be safer just to fix your tuning and run some more boost.

im running 6psi now, but next year after i get a new intake, id like to run 8. any kind of insurance i can get im willing to do...i already run 100octane, but more protection is ok in my book on my stock motor. i just want to avoid detonation at all costs.

Corky Bell might as well say that racing fuel is a band-aid as well . . . it allows for more boost because of less detonation just like the alky kit does . . . I've got one on my car, going to tune it this coming Wednesday. I'll be sure to let you know what kind of gains I see.

I'll second that. We use some crappy gas, so I use the SMC. I'm set at 10lbs. with a 50/50 mix and a spot of acetone for good measure (per the Dr. Connelly formula). ZERO KR on 93 in the dead of the summer.

Good 'nuff for me. Call it a band aid if you want.

So 50% denatured to 50% water? I'm currently running 80/20, but won't be tuning it 'til Wednesday. Have you tried that mix? Why 50/50?
