Cam Choice/Advance Question
I'd like to know if there is any benefit to advancing , or having advance ground into the cam in a supercharged application? I'm wondering if there are any drawbacks by doing so. Most "off the shelf" blower grinds appear to be straight up with no advance ground in. Maybe some of you cam guru's can give me some advice toward my final descision.
Here is a rundown of what I'll be running.
99 Camaro SS, 6spd, 98% street driven. I'll run the 1/8th mile two or three times a summer and maybe the 1/4 once. Shooting for ~700rwhp.
Vortech T-Trim 12-14psi boost.
LS2 based 403 from Weber Racing.
Leaning toward Trickflow 225cc heads.
~9.8:1 compression ratio w/65cc heads, could go higher.
LS6 intake, ported stock TB.
ARH 1-7/8" headers, 3.5" Y-pipe.
Max RPM ~6500
As for the other part of the question regarding cam advance. Would a cam at 114+2 have the same effect (lowering the powerband) as a cam at 112, except the first cam won't bleed off as much boost?
i will go for 228/236
because LS6 instake will keep your RPM MAX to 6500 ,,, and u will see that you power will be Full at 6000 or 6100 RPM
if you planning to change your intake FROM LS6 to LS2 or FAST 90 or 92 ,, i would go for higher 230/238 or 232/240
but that will depened on your Supercharge and your pulley ,,, you dont wanna MAX your Supercharge RPM
so you need to make your calculations ,,,
but for your application at the moment ,, i will go for 228/236
good luck ,, hope this info is usefull
