true and i think it will be fun pushing it to its limits. You dont have to run it full *** blast all the time.

Here's a little tip if your wanting to run stock jy motors.

Look for 05 and newer 5.3 and 6l. They have the stronger LS2 style rods in them.

wow thanks. I guess none of them have long cranks like the 6.0s?

The only long crank 6l I know of where made in 99-2000 and I believe they had Iron heads too.

yes i was just making sure the 5.3s went the same.

What is the difference between a LM7, L59, and L33? Which one would be the best to use?

The LM7 is the standard 5.3, the L59 is the Flex Fuel 5.3, and the L33 is the HO all aluminum 5.3

This is sum good info. I think i'm gonna run the stock bottom end, race gas, and meth. Tune it and see what I can get out of it safely. I'd like ta see a high 9 sec. pass when i'm done.

All the Lq9's have good rods too. Dave took a pic of the difference in the rods last night I will post it on this thread.

pics would be good. How do i know its an 05 or newer 5.3? Are there any marking on the outside of the motor?

Usually if it has a cam sensor in the front its a good eng.

I can't find the pic now lol.

so does it still have a 24x relutor wheel or a 58 in a 2005 motor or newer?

The truck engines and the GTO's have the 24x up till 06-07, the others are all 58. Its easy to tell by the color of the sensor. Grey is 58 and black is 24.
