If Marty did the fabrication, you know it's good work. He did some very impressive welding on a custom intercooler for his Nova - it came out awesome.

Good luck guys. I can't wait to see it run. We need some videos to drool over.

nice! please dont run the wastegate dump tube back into the downpipe so its all quiet and "sleeperish", i would love to see the face of whoever goes against that car as soon as that things goes into boost and dumping it to the atmosphere . Just run a 1.25" or however big that gate requires down under the front of the car, its looking amazing so far great progress, great crastsmanship! keep it up

Sick! It sure doesn't look like you need any, but feel free to shoot a PM my way if you need any insight on the BMW side of the project.

Yes the wastegate is getting plumbed into the downpipe... this is a lux-o-liner.
wastegate is all plumbed... just ran out of welding gas so it couldnt be finished. Its not really cleaned and polished yet either...hense the black "X" marks all over than need to be sanded.
tonight....

That looks VERY nice! I wouldn't worry to much about sanding and polishing though, the first time you run it and heat it up all the SS is going to turn dull brown anyway

Fantastic project.
Just interested to understand how all the other onboard ECU's are going to work with essentially the factory engine missing.

I was wondering the same thing. I am sure that the speedo should work, it uses the ABS computer, but the other stuff may be MIA. I am sure that the other ECM's (radio, heat, etc) should work just fine without the PCM. I am curious because the 4.4 in my '99 540 is getting some hellacious piston slap when cold and I would swap in an LS1 any day of the week!!!
