I've been pricing around partial paint work, just the trunk lid and the body below the back window, and then front header panel. I basically want to remove the Z/28 stripes on the car. I think I might leave the hood and cowl panel black but I'm open to see what a paint pro says. I think I could be $1500 in.

A wrap, I've been quoted a buddy deal of $3500 by a great guy in the area who is well known. If I did a wrap it would be hmmm eye catching.

Just want to say I'm really happy I avoided having race-car type switch panels, the Holley does 95% of everything I need and I don't really need any buttons to run the fan or to start the car.

I'm sure you know paint can be a pandoras box.
My buddy bought a 70 Nova that was very clean, went to get it painted and found severe damage in the passenger quarter panel and trunk panel after some sanding.
What started out as a $5,000 paint job turned into $15,000 worth of body work and then a paint job.

Yeah been there. I'd just do a sand and repaint of the parts I mentioned if I go this route.

I have some wild wrap ideas but I have other changes to make that would make the car safer, faster and lighter.

So I'll buy a $1200 front steer rack before I spend money on a wrap.

I plan to run Oct 11th at GLD at a rental, $75 just show up.

Did some checking on nuts/bolts up front (those hot side v-bands always a little looser).

I swapped on the new Shifnoid bottle regulator, set it to 100 psi. I moved the bottle from behind the passenger seat on the main hoop, I want to see if I like it up front more. I will get my back up bottle filled too.

Poked around in my Holley, my god I suck on navigating the various sections.

Was just looking at one of my logs with my buddy Kevin. My used MW Converter is doing pretty well, 1100 ish drop on the shifts, flashed pretty good too. He noticed that boost dropped in at one point in the run and he's so expert lol we looked at TPS... I lifted a little I don't even remember doing that.

What's very interesting is only made 18 lbs never made 22. So I'll make an adjustment on that tomorrow, more learning for me.

Hey it's winter.

I'm excited for 2025, I found out last week that a local series is adding a 5.30 index with minimal rules. There will be 5 races over the summer at Great Lakes Dragaway featuring this new class, Mean Street. Pretty much can run any drag radial so my 325s fit the class. While I don't see me running the MKE series at Byron (formerly at US41), MKE is adopting the same rule set which is basically a relaxed version of what a lot of folks have been calling Lil Gangster lately.... cliff notes, I can run that too.

Drove the '67 last weekend, all good.

I've been chilling on spend, I have 1 in college and another starts in the fall (though we have 529s for both of them).

I'll do plugs, oil change, trans fluid change. Looking for 5.30s SBE.

Dropping off the engine parts this month.

Way to go John. Best of luck.
Have you run 5.30 before?

My best is 5.6. My car hasn’t 60ft good yet.
Hoping the superior boost control of the Holley will allow me to get the powah in sooner.
I’ve been ready for a couple weeks, but solid rain since.
I need to drive it and begin to learn how to tune it

Nothing fell off lol.
Reminds when a friend of mine sold his 64 Nova, as the guy drove it away the alternator bracket or something fell off and he said "glad I got rid of that junk" so I said "but you're the one who built it."
"F__k off" was all he said lol.
Your car is much nicer John and better built, I don't imagine you'll be seeing anything fall off anytime soon.

And bump.

5.6@127 is my best, my 12th pass at the track. The '67 just rolled out when I went 1.37, I been mid 1.3s in a few different cars.

Work got in the way this year but I'm planning to do some maintenance on the car and get it back out, maybe run it the weekend of oct4. I think I can get to around a 1.30 just by leaving on more.

Actually drove the car around today, not the most streetable car but I just gotta take the speed bumps slow.

Bump.

So the 2026 plan is to make a few of the local 5.30 races at Great Lakes Dragaway. I want to hit 5.3s with the SBE, and then it's getting pulled.

My best pass was 5.6@127 1.37, that was leaving on 8 lbs, 3800 2 step, 18 psi commanded and a 1.2 boost ramp. Car just rolled out no problem. I think for a 5.3x pass, I'll need to figure out how much I can leave on, 10... 11..., and run at least 22 lbs IMO to get there.
